Manulife super visa insurance

Do you need insurance to apply for a Super visa?

A medical insurance is one of the vital prerequisites when applying for a Canadian Super visa. According to the IRCC’s guidelines, applicants must have proof of private medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company. It further specifies that this insurance needs to be paid in full or in instalments, be valid for a minimum of one year after entering Canada, cover healthcare, hospitalization and repatriation, and provide at least $100,000 in emergency coverage.

Why the need for medical insurance?

Visitors to Canada, including Super visa applicants, must be covered by an insurance policy to account for out-of-pocket expenses in case of health emergencies and accidents. It is necessary since visitors are not covered by the Canadian government’s health insurance plans.

Where to buy insurance for a Super visa?

Interested applicants can only purchase a Super visa insurance from a Canadian insurance company. The government has taken steps to incorporate international medical insurance companies, but none have been officially designated by the IRCC so far.

Below, we’ll look into the Medical insurance policies provided by one of the more popular Canadian insurers- Manulife.
